Shu Dong – Chinese Student Services Center

To practice social distancing, Chinese international students have drastically decreased outdoor activities. At CMP, we care about the students' well-being and have launched the "Shu Dong" (meaning a tree hole) program.

Shu Dong is an one-on-one informal chat service. It is free and confidential. Its purpose is to create a safe space for students to engage in a conversation. Students can sign up for this service whether they are experiencing some hardship or just want to find someone to talk to. A staff, a graduated international student, will be talking to them. This is not a counseling service. It is audio-only.

Disclaimer: CMP reserves the moral responsibility to take reasonable steps in the event of potential harm and danger.

To sign up for this service, please visit this link.

To share this service with others, here is the program flyer.

Ever since the fire on Jan 23rd, we have been working tirelessly to restore our services and continue our role as a community service organization. Meanwhile, we received lots of care, encouragement, and support from the City, our friends, colleagues, and the community. Many of you have offered help and mobilized others to help. CMP has been very grateful for that!

Now, we have officially launched the "CMP Rebirth Fund". Please join our efforts in rebuilding CMP and continuing serving the community. Your support will be greatly appreciated!

Checks can be mailed to 123 Walker St., New York, NY 10013 (please make checks payable to “"CMP”; Memo: “CMP Rebirth Fund”).

Our Adult Literacy Program and Train & Earn Program Has Resumed Yesterday (Feb 4)!

Yesterday, 2/4, our Adult Literacy Program and Train & Earn Program have resumed at Oversea Chinese Mission (OCM). Thanks, OCM, for housing our classes!

So glad and thankful that the new class locations were found so quickly and our students haven't fallen to behind in their classes. While it is sad to lose the home CMP has stayed for more than 40 years, we are all getting prepared for a new start.
